BERZERKATROID DRAGON

History & Technical Features

Originally created in 2017, Berzerkatroid Dragon has been a dynamic presence at festivals and exhibitions.

Fire Effects: Initially, a propane flame effect produced a 4-ft burst of fire from the dragon’s mouth, controlled by a lever-operated system from the pilot seat. In 2023, eight additional propane jets were installed on the wings, each producing a musical note when triggered via a simple keyboard.

Construction: Built primarily from stainless steel tubing, the dragon is lightweight (450 lb) and mobile, with built-in wheels for easy transport.

Recent Upgrades: A new set of solenoids and tubing connections were installed to meet modern safety codes.

Fabrication: The propane fire system was designed by Daniel Stratten of Think Industrial, following NFPA standard 160 for flame effects.

One of the most impressive aspects of this dragon is its portability. Engineered to be fully road-legal, the structure disassembles into manageable sections that fit neatly onto a car-hauling trailer. Despite its grandeur, the entire setup can be completed in 30 minutes or less. This thoughtful design ensures that the dragon can travel easily to different locations, bringing its magic to a wide audience without extensive logistical challenges. Beyond its visual appeal, the Lumiere dragon invites festivalgoers to engage with the art. Attendees can interact with various elements, whether through motion sensors that trigger light sequences or designated touchpoints that allow them to influence the dragon’s glow and movement.
